Get to know a Vital Farms Farmer

Meet Trevor, From Bough Family Farms

Armed with a mechanical engineering degree, Trevor never saw himself pursuing agriculture, a common trade in his hometown, but after exploring the food industry and learning more about food systems, he and his wife began to look into ways they could play a role in making farming better. Seven years later, Trevor and his family now own a farm and have been farming with Vital Farms for a little over a year.

His wife, a physical therapy assistant, their parents and their two kids all play a role in taking care of the girls. From cleaning out the egg room, to everyday upkeep – BFF is powered by the Bough family.

Read below to hear a bit from Trevor about farming with Vital Farms.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

I enjoy that it’s a family affair – my wife and kids get to help out and I work with my parents too. The entire family plays a part – I love getting to teach my kids how our food is made and how we should treat animals.

A word from Trevor on raising chickens:

We work very hard. When we first started, our goal was to be the best farm we could be for Vital Farms. We wanted people to come out to our farm and see this is the way it should be done, and we always strive to do our best.

How do you prefer your Vital Farms eggs?

I’m a huge fan of good old fried potatoes and scrambled eggs, I grew up eating it.
