Brown Butter Fat-Washed Bourbon
Try infusing your favorite spirit with rich, nutty brown butter for a uniquely delicious holiday cocktail!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Vital Farms Unsalted Butter
- 1 cup spirit of choice, (such as bourbon, whiskey or rum)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the butter and melt then continue to cook, swirling the pan often until the butter starts to foam. Using a whisk, continue to cook, whisking constantly, until the butter is deep golden-brown and smells toasty.
- Remove from heat and transfer brown butter to a bowl to cool slightly.
- Add the bourbon to a jar or container with a lid. Pour the cooled brown butter into the bourbon and let the mixture rest and infuse on the counter for 1 hour.
- Place a lid on the jar and place in the freezer for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
- Remove the jar from the freezer. Gently remove the now frozen butter disc from the top of the jar. Set aside for another use.
- Pour the bourbon through a fine mesh strainer into another jar or seal-proof container. Use the bourbon to make your favorite cocktails! Bourbon may be stored at room temperature and should be used within about 2 weeks.
