Jason Dale, Chief Financial Officer
With experience in Finance and Operations gained from 15 years at Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods, a premium natural & organic prepared Italian Foods company, Jason joined Vital Farms in 2014, excited to bring his experience to the finance and accounting group as well as help with the continued effort to provide sustainable food. When he is not working he enjoys being outdoors, playing tennis, cycling, and spending time with his wife and son Maxwell.
Russell Diez-Canseco, President and CEO
With over two decades of retail, food, and packaged goods industry expertise, Russell Diez-Canseco believes it is possible to produce ethical food at scale. Since he joined Vital Farms in 2014, the company has grown over 400%, entered its second major category, butter, and built its first full-scale egg packing plant, Egg Central Station. Under Russell’s leadership, the company’s commitment to Conscious Capitalism has led to its recognition as a certified B-Corp, a Forbes Magazine Small Giant, and a Great Game of Business Rookie of the Year candidate.
Prior to joining Vital Farms, Russell spent several years with McKinsey & Company, H-E-B Grocery, and the Central Intelligence Agency. He holds an AB in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Matt O’Hayer, Executive Chairman
Matt O’Hayer & his wife Catherine Stewart started Vital Farms in 2007 with 20 Rhode Island Red hens. From there, Matt set out to prove that it is possible to produce the highest quality food in an environmentally responsible manner from humanely treated animals on a commercial scale. Matt got his start in the egg business in 1968, selling eggs door-to-door as a teenager on the Brown University Campus. He purchased his first farm in 1980. Matt’s previous companies have been listed on NASDAQ and in the INC 500. In addition to being a chicken whisperer, Matt is a USCG Master Captain, an accomplished chef, a rescue diver, and has been an instrument pilot for over 30 years.
Scott Marcus, Chief Marketing Officer
Scott literally found greener pastures at Vital Farms after many years in the “big food” world. After career building and managing national and global brands – and a career on Madison Avenue before that – Scott joined Vital Farms to help give a voice to the Vital Farms brand and to enhance the commercial business operations. From building and leading the marketing organization, Scott’s role has expanded to caring for our marketing, sales and innovation crew. An ex-pat of NYC, Scott enjoys Austin with his wife, daughters and puppy, and is an avid runner.
Jennifer Gregg, Vice President of Operations
For years, Jennifer had been on a personal mission to provide healthy and nutritious food to her two young sons when she found Vital Farms. When the opportunity was presented to join the crew and support Vital’s mission to bring ethically produced food to the table, Jennifer jumped at the chance. After having built a career in Human Resources at CSFB and HEB, Jennifer spent three years leading the Vital Farms HR team. In this role, she worked closely with the rest of the team to open Egg Central Station. Jennifer continued to support the ECS team for a year before ultimately making the move into Operations. With a focus on continuous improvement and servant leadership, Jennifer develops our people and processes to continually raise the standards for all of Vital’s stakeholders. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys running and exercising and spending time with her awesome teenage sons. Jennifer earned her BA from the University of Texas and MA from St. Edward’s University.
Margaux Gillman, Vice President of Talent & Culture
Margaux Gillman oversees the crew member experience as Vital Farms VP of Talent & Culture. She is responsible for talent acquisition, engagement, culture-building, professional development and human resources operations.
Margaux is an energetic people and culture leader with a passion for developing talent. Prior to joining Vital Farms, she led Talent teams at Social Solutions and Axiom Legal. Margaux has a wealth of experience in facilitating change management, building highly functioning teams and fostering values-driven engagement.
A bit of a nomad for the last decade with stints in London, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Chicago, Margaux is excited to have put down roots back in her home state. Outside of the office, she enjoys exploring all of the sights and sounds of Austin with her family and pups and volunteering with Animal advocacy groups.
Margaux holds a BBA in Marketing from Southern Methodist University.
