Raise Pasture-Raised Eggs for Vital Farms
We are always on the lookout for new and enthusiastic farmers to join the Vital Farms crew as growers. Please read through the following questions and answers before reaching out to us.
What areas are you considering for new contracts?
We are not currently looking for growers, but future plans are to expand in Northcentral Arkansas, and Southern Missouri. You are welcome to contact us if you are outside of that area, as we may be expanding our area of operations in the coming year, but without a nearby processing facility, our ability to support new farms outside of these areas is limited.
What is Vital Farms’ grower compensation?
It is Vital Farms’ ongoing goal to offer our growers industry-competitive compensation. For current information, please contact Vital Farms at email@example.com.
How much pasture land is required?
As our hens need a minimum of 108 square foot of pasture each, which equates to 2.5 acres per 1000 birds.
What type of land do you require?
Our production method can take advantage of otherwise marginal land. We require good tree coverage and open areas with good grass cover. This provides the best combination for what the birds love to forage. For biosecurity reasons, pastures with year around ponds or creeks, will not be considered as pasture for the birds.
What regulations are required to run a poultry operation?
A state-approved or Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)-approved nutrient management plan is required prior to operation. During operation, timely filing of records and reports is also required. Other state regulations may apply. For specific information, contact your local department of agriculture or NRCS representative.
