Overview of the Role
The core responsibility of the Shipping and Receiving Manager is to supervises and coordinate activities of warehousing crew members engaged in verifying incoming and outgoing shipments.  Core to this role will be supplying the processing/production crew with needed materials and supplies, flawless execution and accuracy of shipping and inventory transactions, and maintaining proper housekeeping of the warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
  • Determines space requirements for storage of raw material and packaging and ensures proper rotation of stock
  • Assists with load planning of outbound shipments
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications
  • Inspects and ensures the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all warehouse material handling equipment and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair
  • Assists in performing cycle counts
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report, if needed
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving dock to storage and staging areas for consumption
  • Compiles records of unfilled orders and communicates to appropriate leadership team
  • Prepares bills of lading and other required shipping paperwork
  • Assist crew with shipping and receiving activities, when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain, Business Management
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in warehousing environment; standard shipping, receiving, production and inventory control activities
  • Ability to be effective in a position that demands adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels of the organization and external to the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational/prioritization skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks in a tight time frame
  • Strong computer skills including extensive knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and aptitude to learn advanced planning tools
  • Self-motivated, with ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work cross functionally and across organizations
  • Demonstrate strong accountability, consistency and follow-through skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Proven experience in leadership / supervisory roles
