Hot Honey Butter Wings

Hot Honey Butter Wings

Crispy, oven-baked wings dunked in a sweet and tangy hot honey butter sauce are what ideal football snacks are made of.

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients

Wings

  • 3 pounds chicken party wings
  • 3/4 cup rice flour
  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Vital Farms Unsalted Butter, room temperature
  • 12 dried guajillo chiles, stems & seeds removed
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • salt, to taste
  • cilantro, to garnish

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the guajillo chiles with warm water. Let rehydrate for 20 minutes.
  • In a large sauté pan on low heat, add the red wine vinegar, honey, and orange juice. Stir until combined.
  • Pull the chiles from the water, squeeze out the excess moisture, and add them to the pan. Cook for about 20-30 minutes or until the sauce has slightly thickened. Stir occasionally.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and let cool slightly. To a blender, add the chile mixture, Vital Farms Unsalted Butter, and cayenne. Blend until smooth and transfer to a bowl.
  • Add fresh lime juice and salt to the chile mixture. Stir until combined.
  • Preheat the oven to 425° F. Place a wire rack over a parchment or foil-lined baking sheet. Pat the wings dry with a paper towel.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the rice flour, cornstarch, and chili powder. Add the chicken wings to the bowl and evenly coat in the flour mixture. Repeat until all the wings are coated. Place wings on the wire rack.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Flip the wings and bake for another 20-25 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  • Using tongs, transfer the baked chicken wings to the bowl of red chile sauce, and evenly coat. Repeat until all the wings are coated.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro.
