Chopped Italian Sandwich

This bold and flavorful Chopped Italian Sandwich is a crowd-pleasing twist on a deli classic. Packed with savory deli meats, crisp veggies, zesty seasonings, and tossed with your favorite dressing, it’s all chopped together for the perfect bite every time.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients  

  • For the sub:
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 tablespoons Vital Farms salted butter room temperature
  • 1 4- ounce pack of salami
  • 1 6- ounce pack of ham
  • 1 6- ounce pack of provolone cheese
  • 2 ½ cups shredded lettuce of choice
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • medium red onion sliced
  • cup sliced banana peppers drained
  • For the dressing:
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions 

  • Combine and chop: Place salami, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and banana peppers on a large cutting board and chop to desired size. Add to a large mixing bowl, and set aside.
  • Make dressing & Mix: Add mayo, olive oil, red wine vinegar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to a small bowl. Whisk to combine. Drizzle over the chopped ingredients, and toss until evenly coated.
  • Toast and butter hoagie rolls: Slice hoagie rolls in half lengthwise, toast until golden brown, and spread each half with butter while warm.
  • Serve: Divide the chopped filling mixture between the hoagie rolls, and enjoy.
