Our experience with pastured hens began when our owner and CEO, Matt, was a young lad selling fresh farm eggs door-to-door in New England. More recently, our flagship farm at Onion Creek in Austin, TX has been the ideal place to refine our methodology.
While much of the agriculture industry has migrated away from small-scale operations, the Vital Farms model has be successful. Outside of our base in Austin, our supply chain is made up of independent, family farmers who are passionate about raising quality food, and who understand that our core farming principles make our eggs special.
Thank you! Thank you! For raising your hens the way you do and to your hens for producing eggs the way they should (and used), to be. I raised hens in LA, They foraged in my back yard and spent their nights in their pen. They were supplemented with grains, but had full access to bugs and greens and our salad trimmings and trimmings from our organic garden. I haven't had an egg since that measured up and yours surpass. Now I live in a rural area, but in a community where I'm not allowed to have chickens. I loved my hens and would love to have some again, but in the meantime, I'm so thrilled to have discovered yours and their extraordinary eggs! I've told the management at both Whole Foods where we shop, two hours from home, "Never stop carrying these eggs; this is real food!" With deep appreciation, Happy New Year.
